A user’s email delivery status tracks the ability of ActivityInfo’s mail server to reach the user.
The status can be OK, UNKNOWN or HARD_BOUNCE.
- OK means at least one system email has been delivered to the user’s email server.
- UNKNOWN signals that there have been no system messages delivered to this user (such as invitation to join Databases, password reset, weekly risk digest, etc).
- HARD_BOUNCE indicates that the recipient’s mail server rejected our email. This could indicate that the email address is misspelled or otherwise incorrect, or that the person has left their function and their work email has been deactivated.
- SPAM indicates that the recipient reported ActivityInfo’s email as spam. As a result, the system will not send any further emails to this address.
If you invite someone to a database, and we can’t deliver the email (HARD_BOUNCE or SPAM), it will be marked in the user interface as “Invalid email.”
Contract breaks
It can happen that an employee leaves an organization temporarily, and their work email is deactivated while they are on contract break. If ActivityInfo happens to send an email during this contract break period, the email may be refused, and the address marked as HARD_BOUNCE.
If the person later returns to the organization and their old email address is reactivated, ActivityInfo will still consider the email address invalid and will not try to send email again.
If this occurs, please contact support@activityinfo.org.
