Setting the original language of a Database

This article describes how to select the original language of a Database.

The first step in setting up a multilingual Database is choosing the original language of the Database. The original language is the language in which you design the Database and Forms. You can then add translations from this original language to additional languages.

For example, if you choose English as your original language, then you must design all of the Forms in English, and then subsequently provide translations from English to French, and from English to Arabic.

The original language does not have to be English. For example, you can set the original language to Spanish, and then provide translations from Spanish to English, and from Spanish to Portuguese.

To set up the original language of a Database, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Database you wish to translate.

  2. Click “Database Settings.”

  3. Navigate to the “Translations” section on the left Navigation panel.

  4. Check if the original language is defined.

  5. If the original language is already defined, go to Adding a target translation language.

  6. If the original language is not yet defined, click “Undefined.” Then, select the original language and click on “Confirm & continue” to add it.

Success, the original language is set! Now you can add the target translation language to the Database.
